Identity verification is separate from credential verification. It confirms you are who you say you are, rather than that you hold a qualification.
When it applies
- Before a payout above a regulatory threshold.
- Where activity on an account suggests it may have been compromised.
- Where a payout account name does not match the account holder's name.
- Where a dispute turns on identity.
What is asked for
Typically a government-issued photo ID and, sometimes, proof of address. We ask for the minimum needed and say why.
How it is handled
Verification documents are used for verification and fraud prevention, kept only as long as required, and not shown to other users. See the Privacy Policy.
If verification fails
We will tell you what did not match and give you a chance to correct it. A mismatch is usually a name spelling or an expired document rather than anything sinister.
